These girls aren’t just idol stars, they are singers first, known for their vocal prowess and incredible stage presence, and have drawn praise from their K-Pop colleagues and veteran singers.
SISTAR’s songstress Hyorin met her match Ailee earlier this year on KBS’ Dream High 2, and although the two remain good friends since the drama’s conclusion, we wanted to spark a little friendly competition between the divas for this week’s K-Pop Battle.
Hyorin
Since Hyorin made her debut with girl group SISTAR in 2010, she has stood out among the sea of idol stars for her husky voice and tanned skin, often drawing comparisons to some of pop’s legendary divas for her impressive vocal talent.
She has helped SISTAR climb the K-Pop ranks with hits like Shady Girl, How Dare You, So Cool and Alone, but Hyorin knows how to fill a stage all on her own, as she has proved on KBS’ Immortal Song 2 and through other various TV appearances.
Watch Hyorin take on (and own) Mariah Carey’s Whenever You Call with label mate K.Will in the clip below.
Ailee
It’s hard to believe Ailee made her debut only eight months ago with hit song Heaven.
But Ailee had been making a lot of noise in the entertainment world since before her official debut in February, not only winning first place on the MBC Chuseok special Singer and Trainee but making her aforementioned acting debut inDream High 2.
Heaven proved to be a major hit on online music charts, and Ailee was soon blowing viewers and veteran singers away with her powerful performances on KBS’ Immortal Song 2.
While her covers of gayo classics have kept her in the spotlight, Ailee is finally back with a new single, I Will Show You, and we can’t wait to see more of the singer on stage.
Check out her comeback performance on M Countdown below.
